Turkey has issued a formal warning to all parties after a drone attack damaged a Turkish-owned cargo vessel in the Black Sea, reigniting concerns over regional escalation. The Vanuatu-flagged ship, named Ant, caught fire during the strike, which Ukrainian officials attributed to Russian forces. The incident occurred along Ukraine’s maritime export corridor, a key route for grain and goods. Ankara did not assign blame in its official statement but urged all sides to avoid actions that could spiral into broader conflict.

At the same time, a separate Russian drone crashed into a residential building in Galați, Romania, injuring two people and prompting emergency evacuations. This marks the first time civilians in a NATO member country have sustained injuries from direct drone fire since the war began. Romanian authorities confirmed the drone flew undetected for 10 km at low altitude before striking the building, highlighting gaps in air defense integration despite the presence of U.S.-made anti-drone systems.

Romania scrambled F-16s and deployed a military helicopter to monitor the situation, while local residents in border counties were advised to take cover. With 28 recorded airspace breaches since the conflict intensified, the incident underscores growing risks along NATO’s eastern flank. The U.S. Merops anti-drone system is operational but not yet fully integrated into Romania’s national defense network, limiting its effectiveness in populated areas.
