Google is launching its new Google Health app starting May 19, with a robust free Base plan and a $9.99 monthly Premium tier. The Base plan includes activity tracking, sleep stages, heart rate, HRV, SpO2, medical records, weight, nutrition, and water logging — all without a subscription. Premium adds AI-powered health coaching, adaptive fitness plans, on-demand workouts, and proactive health insights. Google is betting users will pay for deeper analysis and personalized guidance. The rollout completes by May 26.

There’s a way to get Premium for free: subscribers to Google One AI Pro ($19.99/month) or AI Ultra ($249.99/month) will receive Google Health Premium at no extra cost. The AI Pro plan includes 5TB storage, advanced Gemini models, deep research tools, and AI-enhanced search. While AI Ultra is likely too expensive for most, AI Pro may appeal to users already invested in Google’s ecosystem.

The move positions Google Health as a serious player in the digital wellness space, combining Fitbit’s hardware strengths with Google’s AI. Unlike some competitors, Google has clearly outlined the differences between tiers, making it easier for users to decide. The Base plan is already comprehensive, reducing pressure to upgrade — but the Premium features target users wanting more than just data tracking.
